Comcast HD channels back online

After a power surge damaged Comcast equipment causing local service to go out late Sunday, the last of the high definition channels are back online, according to company spokeswoman Frances Smith.

Smith said the majority of service was restored within two hours of Sunday’s outage but eight high-definition channels remained out until 7:30 p.m. Monday.
“We deeply regret the inconvenience to our customers,” she said.

The surge damaged some of the equipment that puts out some HD channels but everything was back up by Monday night, Smith said.

Shreveport residents have voiced discontent with the cable provider in the last few years. The city’s contract with the company ended in 2012, and since it has been on a month-to-month basis.
Earlier this month, Councilman Ron Webb told the council he would like a company representative to detail how the company plans to improve service in 2013.
Smith said she plans to attend the March 12 meeting.
